Warm summer weather means wearing less clothes, spending more time at the beach and at the park, and freeing yourself from stifling winter clothes and heavy shoes. While sandals and other light footwear is a great way to keep cool in the heat, many of us prefer to go completely shoeless in hot weather, whether on the sand at the beach or while hanging around the pool.

The shoe-free life, however, is fraught with danger. Sharp objects, spurs, rocks, and hot pavement can all make walking around without shoes on particularly uncomfortable. The danger of slipping presented by bare feet on wet surfaces is also difficult to ignore. Shoes can be difficult to do away with completely, even in the hottest weather.
